This is the story of an eight-year-old boy, Hayk. In 1915, during a terrible period for Armenians - the genocide in Western Armenia, he becomes an unwitting participant in the rescue of the largest handwritten book in Armenian, Msho Charntir (The Moush Homiliarium). With his grandmother Araksi and her sister Nane he sets on a journey from Moush to Aleksandropol. Witnessing the horror of the torture and death of thousands of innocent people, he loses his faith in God, yet, when others on his journey show their love and compassion to him, his Faith returns.
